Scabies is a skin infection caused by tiny insects (mites) that burrow under your skin, causing a very itchy rash.
Scabies is highly contagious and can often rapidly spread through households before it is detected. It easily spreads between people through direct skin contact or by sharing clothing and bedding. For this reason, scabies is more common when you have lots of people living together in close contact.
